2013 Objectives

Goal:

Raise public consciousness and press coverage of the most pressing violations of women and girls’ rights and engage global audiences and those in power to help end them.

Success:

Equality Now is recognized internationally as an expert in the fields of human rights and gender equality. Coverage of the organization and our issues appeared in at least 16 languages in media outlets across the globe.

Goal:

Increase supporter engagement and expand Equality Now’s networks.

Success:

Equality Now’s global network of supporters continues to grow from the ‘roots up’ allowing us to extend our geographic reach and impact worldwide.

Goal:

Pursue new opportunities to advance the human rights of women and girls.

Success:

Adolescent Girls’ Legal Defense Fund (AGLDF): Supporting three new cases on behalf of 16-year-old Shakila of Afghanistan, 13-year-old Soheir of Egypt and 16-year-old Liz of Kenya.

Chime for Change, founded by GUCCI: Became a partner organization under the global campaign’s Justice Platform, and posted projects addressing sex trafficking, child marriage, girls’ rights and sex discriminatory nationality laws.

Make Equality Reality: Premiered our intimate gala in Los Angeles, California, hosted by Gloria Steinem and honoring Joss Whedon. The event was underwritten by the InMaat Foundation and sponsored by GUCCI and Skype.
